Raymond Spillman Obituary

Raymond Leon Spillman Sr. of Greenville, Texas entered eternal rest on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Ashland, Kansas on March 6, 1939, to Frances and Lewis Spillman. Raymond Leon was the second youngest of five children.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Deanna M. Spillman and his siblings Margaret Ann Kelly and Joe Spillman. Leon is survived by siblings:  Lois Marie Arey, John Spillman, and sister-in-law Alecia Spillman; children: Carla Spillman, Raymond Spillman Jr., Jeffery Spillman, Vincent Spillman, and daughter in law Linda Samora; 8 grandchildren: Danny Jr., Olivia, Chris, Joshua, Justin, Trevor, Jasmine, Steven, and Jake; 7 great grandchildren: Abagail, Kayley, Danny III, Korra, Leia, Carter, and Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond Leon, known lovingly as Leon, Grandpa, and Pops, proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957-1962. As a Navy Veteran, he went on to become an entrepreneur in several ventures throughout his life. He started the business Pizza Inn with his brother Joe in 1958, where some locations still exist today. Much like his wife, Leon had a passion for animals, owning a ranch where he raised horses and cattle. Pops enjoyed traveling to new places far and wide, taking in the beautiful world around him. He was known to love Western movies to relax after a hard day’s work. Leon also loved sports, football being his favorite to watch (and maybe bet on a time or two). This wonderful family man had a love of playing cards and made it a family tradition at holidays to gather everyone together, teaching each generation the different games and having fun doing so.
