Willie "Joe" Young

Tribute Young, Joe, 86, passed away on November 20, 2019 in Mt. Vernon, Texas. Joe was born on June 25, 1933 in Pickton, Texas to Gus William Young and Maude Lena (Stanley) Young. Upon graduation from high school attended East Texas State Teachers College. Joe went into the US Army where he served in the Korean Conflict with the 986 Field Artillery. Upon returning home Joe began his longtime career in auto sales. He at one time owned the Ford dealership and after 55 years in the Auto Industry he retired from Teague Chevrolet Dealership. Joe was a former member of the Mt. Vernon City Council, a member of the Mt. Vernon High School Football Booster Club and longtime member of First Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed singing in the church choir, traveling with family, hunting, fishing, camping and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Maude Young and sister, Madelyn Leath. Joe was survived by his loving wife, Patty Young; son, Dayne Young; daughters, Vicki Morris and husband, Bob, and Patti Weig; six grandchildren, Kyle Morris, Nathan Morris, Ashton Weig, Taylor Weig, Jordan Weig and Callie Young; six great grandchildren, Blake Morris, Max Morris, Mason Chaney, Teagan Sontz, K.J. Williams, and Elias Williams; and one sister, Evelyn Henderson. The family will receive friends for visitation and services will be on Monday, November 25, 2019 with visitation starting at 1:00PM and the funeral service will be held at 2:30PM. Pastor Pepper Puryear will be officiating. Donations may be made on Joe's behalf to Cypress Basin Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association. . Service Details.
