Tommy Ray Smith, age 71, transitioned from the physical world and into the spiritual world peacefully with his daughter at his side on January 9th, 2020 while listening to Wild Horses, a song he always loved by the Rolling Stones. He was born on May 6, 1948, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Marson Ray and Juanita Irene (Taylor) Smith. He was a 1966 graduate of North Dallas High School and attended El Centro College. He was a resident of Dallas, TX and then Mesquite, TX. He worked as a construction engineer and also as an actor. He appeared in Oliver Stone's 1991 movie JFK as a secret service agent. He portrayed a lawyer in the 1992 film Ruby. He was a milkman in ABCs 1993 miniseries Murder in the Heartland. He played a lawman in Bonnie & Clyde: The True Story (1992). He was also a Texas Ranger in CBS's 1993 Walker, Texas Ranger tv series. He was known as being a man of high intelligence who was wonderful at both listening and giving advice. There was nothing electronic, mechanical, or otherwise that he couldn't fix and was always readily available to offer a helping hand. He was a man of his word. He was an amazing father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family and had a kind heart for animals. He will be fondly loved and remembered by his daughter Monika Rae Brown (Smith) and her fiancé John Richard Kennedy, grandchildren Garrett Allen Brown and Sarah Ashlea Brown, girlfriend of 10 years Heidi Jean Brooks, former son-in-law David Allen Brown, and cherished friends and those he considered family.
