Terry Lee Clay, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Mount Vernon, Texas at the age of 76. He was born on December 21, 1948, in Dallas, Texas and is preceded in death by his father, Holley Clay, and mother, Clovis Lovelace Clay. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Wilkins Clay, and they have been married for 58 years. Terry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by wife, Darlene Wilkins Clay, and children, Sherry Taylor, Michelle Petty and husband Faron Petty, Jennifer McMillan and husband, Brian McMillan, John Clay and wife, Kristina Clay; his nine grandchildren, Stacee Price and husband, Jake Price, Cheyenne Holloway and husband, Jarrod Holloway, Tyler Mardis and wife, Emily Mardis, Marshall Taylor and wife, Chelsea Taylor, Tiffany Taylor and wife, Ashton Taylor, Kelsey Cox and husband, Andrew Cox, Jacob Mahaffey, Christian Mahaffey and Emilia Clay; also survived by nine great grandchildren, Kinslee Dawson, Jayce Price, Sawyer Rutherford, Leo Rutherford, Ellie Cox, Waylon Cox, twins, Parker and Levi Mardis, and Lainey Click.
Terry's twin brother, Garry Clay, and wife, Patricia, brother, Holley Clay, and wife, Delores, and sister Martha Hess, and husband, Don Hess, and his faithful dog, Jasper, survive him.
Terry graduated from WW Samuell High School and Eastfield College. He was in the Marching and Concert Band in high school. He retired from L-3 in 2013 after 13 years of service. He enjoyed fast cars, music, and spending time with his family and friends.
Family and friends will gather for a Visitation at the Aguilar Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the Graveside Service will follow at the Good Hope Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Texas.
