In Loving Memory of
Sherrie Anne Helton
June 6, 1970 – July 12, 2026
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Heaven gained one incredible woman when Sherrie Anne Helton went home to be with Jesus. She was 56 years old.
Now, if you asked her when her birthday was, you might've gotten a different answer depending on the day. Although her birth certificate insists it was June 6, she'd confidently tell you it was the 6th and the 7th—and good luck convincing her otherwise.
Sherrie never met a stranger. To her, there were no strangers—just people she hadn't loved yet. If there was one word that perfectly described her, it was love. She lived it every single day. Her home, her heart, and her arms were always open. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she'd just met in the checkout line, you were welcomed with the same kindness, laughter, and unconditional love.
She had a way of keeping everyone on the straight and narrow... well, at least until she decided the scenic route sounded more fun. She'd laugh with you until your stomach hurt, cry with you when your heart was heavy, help you get away with something if needed, and then look everyone straight in the eye and swear she didn't know a thing about it.
Sherrie was also the definition of strength. The kind of strength that made everyone around her believe they could survive anything, simply because she was standing beside them. Through every challenge life threw her way, she faced it with courage, stubbornness, humor, and a love that never wavered.
Her greatest joy in life was her family—especially her 19 grandchildren, who completely stole her heart. They probably gave her enough gray hair to last three lifetimes, but she never let it show. Every one of them knew they were loved beyond measure.
She will see "later" her devoted husband, Larry Helton; her children, Kody Dale and wife Shayla, Jaylee and husband Jordan, Crystal and husband Nick, Heather and husband Austin, Leighann and husband Josh, Emily and husband Eric,Keaton and Wendy Rose; her mother, Louise; her sisters, Donna and Donella; her brothers, Michael Spragg and wife Brandie, and Michael Skinner and wife Joanne; along with countless bonus nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who were loved just as fiercely as those related by blood.
Waiting to welcome her at Heaven's gates were many loved ones who had gone before her. We can only imagine the reunion—full of hugs, laughter, and Gma already asking who made the sweet tea.
We hope Heaven was ready, because they just gained the loudest, funniest, most stubborn woman around. And if there's a rule up there, we're pretty sure she's already asked if it's really a rule or just a suggestion.
Her family finds comfort knowing that while our hearts are broken here, hers has been made whole in the presence of God. Her love didn't end when she left this earth—it lives on in every life she touched, every lesson she taught, every laugh she shared, and every person lucky enough to call her Gma, Mom, wife, daughter, sister, or friend.
Until we meet again, save us a seat... and try not to reorganize Heaven too much.
