Sammy Jones, Jr.

Tribute Sammy L. Jones, Jr. age 75, of Springhill, Louisiana, formerly of Winfield, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana. Sammy was born on May 9, 1944 in Pittsburg, Texas to the late Sammy Lee Sr. and Capitola Payne Jones. Sammy married Carolyn Freeman on October 5, 2005. Together they have spent the last 14 years enjoying retirement and living a lifetime of memories. She survives. Sammy was a member of the Church of Christ. He retired as an insurance salesman and was a certified Ford Salesman. Sammy had a love for life that showed in all that he did. He enjoyed golf, bowling and working in the yard as long as his health allowed. He has spent the last few years reflecting on life and enjoying the time he has had with his beloved family. Sammy is survived by one son, Bryan L. Jones, and wife Susan, of Winfield; grandchildren, Brian Rivers of Dallas, Texas and Crystal Rivers of Winfield; great-grandchildren, Maverick and Presley Rivers; step-children, Jim Jones, and wife Pat, and Kirk Jones, and wife Betty; step grandchildren, Daniel Jones, Hannah Jones, and Andy Circu; step-great-grandchildren, Allie, Zoe, and Ryleigh; sister, Nancy Gilbreath, and husband Phillip, of Garland; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and very special friends. Graveside services for Sammy Lee Jones, Jr. will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Winfield Cemetery, with Gerald Hood officiating. . Service Details.
