Rick Martin

Tribute Rick Nelson Martin, 66, went to his heavenly home on December 15, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God carried him through his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Rick was born on March 07, 1953 To his late parents, Nelson & Florence Martin. Rick was loved and cherished by an extensive family and many close friends. After retiring from US Bank in 2018 due to illness, he and Paula settled in Mt. Vernon. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Paula Sue; daughters, Brandy Martin of Denver, CO, Niki Kooiman and husband, Chad of Lewisville, TX, Shanea Thomas and husband, Rickey of Devol, OK, and Kathleen Unger and husband, Tim of Wimberly, TX; 7 grandchildren, Shelby & Servando Castanda, Shaelynn Ford, Aubrey Shaw, Ryan Shaw, Mason Booe, Nicholas Kooiman, Ava Kooiman; one great grandson, Joseph Castanada; and two sisters, Sharon Caron and husband, Jim of Gladston, MO and Carol Smith of Independence, MO. Rick was preceded in death by his granddaughter Hayley Ford. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 10 to 11 o'clock in the morning at Collvins Memorial Funeral Home. Services celebrating Rick's life will follow at 11 with Pastor Henry Jordon officiating. A private family graveside will be held at Cypress Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
