Nina Lee Wharton, of Mount Vernon, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born in New Boston, Texas on February 25, 1941, to Dovie Arminta (Burnett) and Thomas Jackson Lemons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dovie and Thomas Lemons, siblings, Sylvia Adams and Daniel Lemons, son, David Wayne Wharton, son-in-law, Rusty Brown and daughter-in-law, Vanessa Wharton.

Survivors include her beloved children, Dean Wharton of Texarkana, Randy Wharton of Winnsboro, Janita Brown of Texarkana, Donna Huff of Mount Vernon, and Susan Dennis and husband Steve of Scroggins; 9 grandchildren: Tracy, Christy, Kerry, David, Wendy, Katherine, Mandy, Eric, and Austin; 17 great grandchildren: Collin, Faith, Garrett, Alex, Aubrey, Stella, Taylor, Evan, Kaiden , Landon, Presten, Natalie, Michael, Gavin, Connor, Kajmiere, and Star; 2 great-great grandsons: Brent and CJ; sister, Wilma Savell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nina was a loving mother and Grandmother. Hard working and dedicated to her work and her family. She was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed all forms of crafting, from drawing and painting to quilting, sewing and crocheting. She was a good cook and loved to feed her family or anyone who stopped by. Nina spent her spare time reading, especially the Bible. She was studious of the Word of God, reading and writing scriptures to embed them in her mind and heart.

As a registered nurse for over 30 years Nina’s career was spent in patient care in local ER’s and ICU’s all around the area.

Family and friends will gather for a Visitation on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Aguilar Funeral Chapel, and the Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Nina will be laid to rest in New Boston, Texas at the Read Hill Cemetery.
