Neil Anderson Scott, JR. passed away peacefully at his home on July 5, 2020. He was born on January, 27, 1938 in San Angelo, Texas. Preceding him in death were his father, Neil Anderson Scott, Sr. and mother, Annie Pauline Hines Scott.
He leaves his wife of fifty-one years, Carol Ann McQueen Scott; daughter Robyn Scott of Evanston, Illinois, son Brad Scott of League City, Texas; brother-in law Larry McQueen of McKinney; nephew Nick McQueen and his wife Katie and daughters Reagan and Samantha of Dallas and nephew Ben McQueen of Houston and his wife Krissy of Houston, Texas.
He graduated San Angelo High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Lubbock at Texas Tech University. He received his master's degree from Baylor University, Waco and PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
He retired as a senior vice president with Oppenheimer in Dallas after many years in the brokerage business.
When he and his wife, Carol Ann, moved to Franklin County, he became active in the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon, serving as President in 2017-18. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon. He participated and supported Mount Vernon Cares, Mount Vernon Music and the Cotton Belt Railroad Museum and Franklin County Historical Association.
