Tribute Martha Mae Price, age 92, of Mount Vernon, formerly of West Point, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Willow Creek Healthcare Center in Mount Vernon. Martha was born on January 7, 1927 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to the late William E. and Nettie A. Burden Martin.
Martha married the love of her life and her best friend, Seldon U. Price, on November 27, 1946 San Francisco, California. Together they would spend the next 49 years making memories and loving each other. Seldon preceded her in death on March 5, 1996.
Martha worked for 20 years as a crossing guard for the Pacifica Police Department in Pacifica, California. She spent countless days making children smile while doing her best to keep them safe. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of South San Francisco. Martha was also a member of the USS San Diego Association.
Martha was a woman of many talents. Beyond her faithfulness to her Lord and the love she had for children and those around her. Martha spent time writing various pieces of family history. She authored the book "A Tour of Sasakwa" and then donated all the proceeds back to the Sasakwa Public Schools. She loved singing and playing old hymns on her beloved piano. She and Seldon had no children of their own so they spoiled their twelve nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed in her retirement years baking for all the first responders in her community of West Point.
Martha is survived by her sister Bernice Jacobs of Pacifica, California and nephews, James Todd of Darden, Tennessee, Ed Jacobs of Salinas, California, Lloyd Martin of Greenville, Texas, and Ken Young of Edmond, Oklahoma; nieces, Sue Bird of Pacifica, California, Jackie McClymond of Pacifica, California, Glenda Burnham of Houston, Texas, Hazel Bailey of Sasche, Texas, Marty Crouch of Plano, Texas, Beverley Nelson of Lone Star, Texas and Sharon Mars of Mount Vernon, Texas; and by a host of other relatives and friends.
Martha was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Todd and Ruby Young; two brothers, William Martin and Loyd Martin and also twin infant siblings; one niece, Ann Louise Martin Freyling; and one nephew, Seldon Young.
A memorial service for Martha Mae Price will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Cameron Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dominic Crescimanno officiating. Burial will be at Winfield Cemetery.
