Parsons, Marilyn Virginia, 78, passed away on January 02, 2021 in Green Hill Villas, Mount Pleasant, TX. She was born on April 10, 1942 in Bellmead, Texas to William Jackson Smith and Mamie Adel (Witt) Smith.
Marilyn had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1994 and a longtime prior resident of Carrollton, TX. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
For many years Marilyn was a buyer and top salesperson for Dillard's Department Stores and once moving to Mount Vernon she owned her own store's Parson's Parade and Heart & Home on the downtown square of Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi and had been a longtime member of the Mount Vernon Downtown Association.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dawn Parsons; and two sisters, Mamie Jean Andrews and Rebecca Sue Ray.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Thomas Glynn Parsons; daughter, Melanie Cleveland and husband, Jim of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Katie Gambill and husband, Daniel of Heath, TX and John Thomas Cleveland and wife, Hayley of Edmond, OK; 3 Great Grandchildren, Gabriel Gambill, Grant Gambill and Josephine Parsons Cleveland; and one sister, Ollie Mae Jones of Fort Worth, TX.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00AM at Collvins Memorial Funeral Home.
The family requests memorial donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
