If you knew Maria, then you knew she was a devout Catholic, for her whole life. She realized, at a young age, that she absolutely needed and wanted God in every aspect of her life. From faithfully attending Sunday Mass, reading her bible, listening to the Holy Rosary being recited, and being involved at the St. James Catholic Church, she wanted her mind and spirit to be surrounded by the things of her faith. She also was intentional on raising her children in the Catholic faith, to set an example of how they should live. Staying involved with a servant's heart, she proudly volunteered her time, helping to fundraise for the group she was a part of for many years, Grupo de Oracion and she lived and set that example until the day she passed away.
One of her love languages was cooking for her family and friends. Spending time with her family meant everything to her. Being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews meant everything to her. She loved everyone with an open heart, and they loved her as well in return.
Maria had a green thumb and enjoyed cultivating her garden. When her beloved husband of 49 years, Adan was still alive, they would work on their garden at home, together. She was especially talented, crocheting many wonderful things for those that she loved. Blankets, hats, purses and so much more. She gave many timeless crocheted gifts that will carry her love on for a lifetime.
