Leroy James "Jim" Jefferys

Winnsboro, Texas

Leroy James 'Jim' Jefferys, of Winnsboro, Texas, died peacefully at home on Monday January 2, 2023, at the age of 83.  He was born in Akron, OH on April 21, 1939.

During his life he worked with the family business until he joined the Army in 1961.  He served proudly for two years in the 9th Cavalry at Ft Hamilton in NY.  He then served 4 years in the Army Reserves in his hometown of Akron, OH.  During his work career, he owned a mechanics/gas station, worked in construction, was a long-haul trucker and finally was a manager of a storage company in California, where he worked for 25 years before retiring.  He and his family lived in California for over 30 years before he and Barbara moved to Winnsboro, Texas where he lived for the last 17 years.   Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking and tinkering with his cars & trucks.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Leander & Margaret Semick Jefferys; as well as his brothers Paul, Franklin & Joseph 'Joey' Jefferys and daughter, Christine Mayhew.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara Tyson Jefferys; His sisters, Blanche 'Bea' (Kim) Casner of Holly Lake, Texas, Margie (Bill) Tarr of New Zealand; his five children, Bryan Jeffreys, Patrick Jefferys, Michael Jefferys, Hope (Dan) Hinderliter, all of Phoenix, AZ & William 'Bill' Mayhew of Carnegie, PA; Eight grandchildren, Breanna, Bailey, Nicholas, Amanda, Jayd, Destiny, Savannah & Ava; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Jefferys' Family will honor Jim with a cremation; a celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
