Larry M. Knutson, born December 7, 1942, passed away in Mt Vernon, TX on July 9, 2025. Larry retired to Mt Vernon after a lifetime of loyalty and passions:
A Vietnam Veteran, Larry was proud of his 20-year career in the US Air Force. His service took him from Michigan to Alaska, Minnesota, Oregon, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, and the jungles of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Every fall, he stalked, fed, pictured and planned for deer season. This included the annual increase in camouflage clothing and a rifle or bow.
Larry believed he could, and should, fix anything. He applied the carpentry skills his father taught him and his electrical engineering degree to building a retirement home and renovating the Grace Lutheran Church Ministry Center where he served as a Trustee.
He avidly watched and cheered every Detroit Lions game and highlight reel that was available in his location. His hat collection was dominated by blue.
Larry's greatest passion was his wife of 56 years, Carin Fay Knutson. He delighted in bringing her roses he had grown in their garden.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carin; son, Travis and his wife, Lori; daughter, Crystal and her husband, Steve; four grandchildren, Garrett, Laeral, Nolan, and Olivia; his sister, Karen and brother, Martin.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Larry on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church at 10:00 am. His cremated remains will be placed at the Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, August 11, 2025, and Military Honors will be rendered.
