John Hilton Walker, of Blodgett, entered eternal rest after bravely fighting cancer for 8 years, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born in Mount Pleasant on September 27, 1960, to Buster and Mary Walker.
He is reunited with his parents and brother Billy Walker.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 14 and a half years, Beverly Walker; his children: Cassie Walker-Smith and her son, Kaiden, Clint Walker and wife, Terri, and their two children, McKenzie and Jackson; stepdaughter Leah Bellows and her son, Quintin Bellows; Brandon Ashby and wife, Lindsay, and their children, Nick and Taylor; siblings, Cherrise Walker-Underwood and husband, Billy; Bobby Walker and wife, Cynthia; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At 6ft 3in, John was known as a gentle giant. As a Christian, he showed his love for the Lord by being humble and selfless. He constantly gave to others and had a huge heart for his family and friends. With a curious mind and a great sense of humor, John was truly one of a kind.
Also known as "BopBop" or "Papa John," John was a hardworking family man who spent 38 years working in the coal industry to provide for his family. John was adventurous and loved to travel. He would spend time planning trips with his wife and researching every detail. Spending time with his family meant everything to him, and John cherished the time he spent with them.
John fought cancer for many years and even as he was passing away, he wanted to help others, showing even as he faced death that he was selfless.
Those who knew and loved John will miss him for all eternity.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Aguilar Funeral Chapel beginning at 12:00 p.m. for a Viewing. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. John will be Buried at the Old Tarrant Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.
