Jack Head

Tribute Jack B. Head, age 90, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Grand Prairie, passed away in the late evening hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Winnsboro, with his loving family by his side. Jack was born on November 12, 1928 in Rockhill, South Carolina. Jack proudly served his country as a career service member of the United States Army where he saw combat in Vietnam. Jack married the love of his life and his best friend, Linda Oxford, on June 16, 1977 in Grand Prairie. After more than 40 years of raising a family and living a lifetime of memories, she survives. Jack was a member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed watching westerns but those who knew him best knew that his entire world revolved around his "five girls". Jack was a devoted family man who treasured the time he was able to share with them. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of Mount Vernon; daughters, Shawn Hickman of Mount Vernon; son, Jack Edward Head, and wife Cindy, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Britni Jackson, and husband Steven, Valarie Butler, and husband Grant, Taylor Henly, and husband Roy, Christie Van Rite, and husband Wes, and Justin Head, and wife Keisha; great-grandchildren, Kason, Eli, Bryson, Reed, Rhett, Nicholas, Cody, and Ella; sister, Cory Armstrong of Kingman, Arizona; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Head, and by two sisters, Ruby Hainkel and Audrey Kelly. Funeral services for Jack B. Head will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Cameron Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Barkley officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Army Relief Fund. Service Details.
