Inez Flores Smith passed away on January 14, 2022 at her home in Mt Pleasant, Texas. She was born on July 10th, 1939 in Nacogdoches, Texas to William and Mary Christina Flores. Inez graduated from high school in 1956, attended Paris Jr. College, Stephen F. Austin University, and in 1968 she graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated nurse until she retired in 2007, after almost 40 years. Inez was a very special woman who was always taking care of those around her. If she wasn't bandaging you up, she could always be counted on for a warm meal that would soothe any soul. Inez was a lover of animals and had many throughout the years. She had a soft spot for them all, especially her beloved dog, Buddy. Inez was predeceased by her husband B.W. Smith, sons Michael and Stanley Smith, her beloved grandson John Bruce, her parents and her sisters Abbie Smith and Marie Hancock. She is survived by a loving family that includes her son Wayne Smith and Grace of Austin, daughters Tina Hicks and Andy of Pittsburg, Susan Moran of Mt. Pleasant and Sandra Bates and Ricky of Mt. Vernon. Her grandchildren include granddaughter Christina Moran and Emily of Jarrell, Meagen Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Hannah Ramirez of Mt. Pleasant, Martina Ramirez of Pittsburg, Diana Ramirez of Pittsburg, Mystie Steward and Denni of Mt. Vernon, Kayce Wood and Justin of Mt. Vernon, Julie Longan and Patrick of Commerce. She also has 4 great granddaughters Genevieve Rubio, Isabella Ventura, Makenna Steward, Kylie Wood and 3 great grandsons Dalton Steward, Patrick Longan VII and Preston Wood. She is also survived by 6 nephews and 4 nieces, along with an abundance of dear friends & family far and near. A special thanks to Latreina Arnold for loving her day in and day out. taking excellent care of her and for loving her as much as we did. Kindred Home Health, Chambers Hospice (Tikishea Butler & Patricia Peoples) and Lisa Currey for providing exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in honor of Mrs. Smith to your local animal shelter, St. Jude's, or St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
