Heath Alan Guthrie, lovingly known as, "Tex," of Mount Vernon, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 55. He was born in Titus County on May 25, 1970, to Billy Jack and Billie Lou (Kendrick) Guthrie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Jack.
Tex was a simple man with a heart as big as his smile - the life of the party and the kind of person who could light up any room. He was known for always seeing the best in people, even when they couldn't see it, in themselves. He would give you the shirt off his back, even if he didn't have another one to wear. No matter what life threw his way, Tex met it with forgiveness, laughter, and love.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tonya (Byrd) Guthrie and their fur babies, Sam and Chloe; his children, Billy Guthrie, Dakota and Paige Betts, his "Doodles" and Justin Babbitt, Ryan and Maegan Harvey; his mother, Billie Lou Guthrie; and his sisters, Lu (Greg) Womack and Terri (Danny) Strawser. He also had numerous grandchildren who will always remember him as their, "Popeye."
Tex loved fishing, dancing, playing pool, back roading, and watching his grandkids play. More than anything, he loved spending time with family and friends - making memories, sharing stories, and spreading his signature joy everywhere he went.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Aguilar Funeral Chapel. Heath will be honored at a graveside service on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Fuquay Cemetery.
Tex will forever be remembered for his kind soul, his forgiving heart, and his favorite words - "Has anyone told you they loved you today? Well, I do."
