Obituary

Clayton Leroy Ragsdale, known affectionately to many as "Lee," passed away on March 23, 2026, in Winnsboro, Texas. Born on September 6, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Texas, Lee lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and a love for the outdoors.

Lee served his country with honor and commitment in the United States Army, proudly serving four years in the renowned 2nd Armored Division, famously known as "Hell on Wheels." His time in the military was a foundational chapter of his life, exemplifying his strong sense of duty and camaraderie.

Following his military service, Lee made significant contributions to the oil field industry in Texas and Louisiana. Beginning as a floor hand and later advancing to motorman, he dedicated many years to this demanding field, earning respect from colleagues and friends alike for his hard work and perseverance.

Lee was a man of varied interests and hobbies. He took genuine pleasure in working in his yard and shop, spending quiet hours fishing, engaging in lively games of board play, and challenging his mind with intricate puzzles.

Lee’s legacy is carried forward by his loving family. He is survived by his sons Cary Ragsdale, Johnny Ragsdale, Troy James Ragsdale, and his daughters Brandi Ragsdale and Amanda Camacho. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Zoei Ragsdale, Wiley Wagner, Aubrey, Leyton and Liliana Camacho, Macie and Bryce Knighten, as well as step son Matthew Sparks, step daughter Roberta (Bobbie) Overholt and her children Calvin Overholt IV and Wyatt Abbott and Neveah Blutcher.

Though he finds rest now, Lee’s memory is touched by those who preceded him in death: his father Clayton L. Ragsdale, Sr., mother Bobbie Ragsdale, sister Cheryl Lindley, daughter Misty Ragsdale, and granddaughter Josey Rampino, step daughter Brandy Stewart.  Their remembrance adds a layer of solemn respect to the profound loss felt by his family and friends today.

Clayton Leroy Ragsdale's life speaks of a man who met every task with steady determination. His spirit endures in the memories he forged and the lives he touched, and his family honors his legacy with love and gratitude.
