Betty (Lacy) Odum

Betty Lou (Lacy) Odum, age 81, went to the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2022, in Mount Vernon, Texas.  Betty was born in Diswood, Illinois.  She was the fourth child of Chester and Ruth (Tinsley) Lacy.  Betty grew up in Cobden and Carbondale, IL.  Betty graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1959.

Betty is survived by her children, Tammy Faelber and husband Bradley, of Northglenn, CO, Valarie Barela of Mount Vernon, TX, and John Odum and Christina of Niceville, FL, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Gary Lacy and Meri of Midlothian, VA, sister-in-law Nadine Lacy of Elkville, IL and Sue Lacy of De Sota IL, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Lacy, and Charles Lacy, all from Carbondale, IL, sister Verna Long of Lancaster, PA, and her precious granddaughter, Betty Nicole Barela of Mount Vernon, TX, and her husband, Jerry Odum, of Herrin, IL.

Betty was active in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo for 25 years.  Prior to her retirement she was a Loan Officer.  Her favorite thing to do was dancing, until her health prevented her from doing so.

Betty's remains will be cremated and placed in the Murdale Garden of Memory in Carbondale, IL.  Memorial services will be at graveside in Carbondale, IL.
